Fish Lake is one of the best fishing spots in Utah. If you enjoy fishing in Utah and have never been to Fish Lake, it is time to go. Fall is just around the corner and is traditionally the best time of the year to fish this lake. It is a large, natural cold lake nestled in pine trees and quaking aspens and sits at 8,8000 feet in elevation. Fish Lake is famous for its Lake trout that can exceed 40 lbs. however most anglers will catch Rainbow trout, Splake and Perch. You may even catch a Brown trout, Brook trout or Tiger Muskie.
Shore fishing can be excellent for perch using worms but more of a challenge for trout. Try using traditional bait and flies near the Twin Creeks inlet or Joe’s bush. There are several locations around the lake with easy access. Most people find better success while fishing from float tubes or boats. Trolling with pop gear and worms or lures at any depth is popular and productive. Larger fish, including Lake trout are most often caught near bottom of the lake trolling with lures or jigging lures tipped with bait.
There are three full service marinas at Fish Lake with general stores, gas, lodging, boat rentals, boat ramps and fish cleaning stations. There is also plenty of camping opportunities in the area as well. Fish lake basin offers plenty of modern facilities for the whole family to enjoy.
Not only is Fish Lake a lot of fun to fish in the fall, but it is beautiful as well. Pando, a group of quaking aspens, lives within the Fish lake basin. It is among the largest and oldest organisms living on the Earth.
