It is going to cost you a little more money to register your boat. The 2015 Utah State Legislature approved a $10.00 increase in the annual boat registration fee which will be used to help fight the spread of Quagga Mussels in the state. This invasive species of mussels destroy fisheries and damages water distribution systems. They have been found in some of Utah's waterways already including Lake Powell and Deer Creek Reservoir. Responsible boaters can help the Utah Department of Natural Resources try to control the spread of Quagga Mussels by cleaning there boat and fishing equipment after each outing. The increased revenue from boat registration will also be used to help control the spread of this species. For more information on what you can do to help, visit STDofthesea.com.
