Fishing pole case is a great way to protect your investment, especially while travelling. While there are many brands and styles to choose from at your local sporting goods store, you can easily make a less expensive case with a few items from your home improvement store.
A large PVC pipe, glue and a couple of cap is all you need to make a nice, durable, inexpensive rod case. Just purchase a large enough pipe for your fishing rod(s) to fit in and a couple of caps. We recommend a socket cap that can be glued to one end and a threaded adapter and cap for the other end. The threaded cap can easily be removed so you can store and retrieve your fishing rod. Simply cut the pipe to the size you need, glue the ends and you are done. If you cut the pipe slightly larger than your pole you can put foam on either end of the inside of the pipe for cushioning and extra protection. If you want to get creative you can paint the PVC, sew a cloth case for it, and even add a strap for carrying the case.
These cases may not be as fancy and nice looking as cases you can purchase, but they do work just as well and cost a lot less money.
