Because of Utah's very dry summer and continued on going drought, many of our lakes and reservoirs are very low. This can be problematic if you our planning on taking you boat out for one more outing before winter. Be sure to check for local conditions before planing your next outing. Boat ramps our completely out of the water at many places so launching is more difficult if not impossible. Use caution before launching at Huntington Reservoir and Electric Lake. Please use the comment section below to post reports of other low reservoirs.
If you are older, you probably remember when you could use corn to fish with in Utah. The DWR is considering allowing fishing with corn (not chumming) for selected waters again in Utah for 2 years while they study the overall effects. If approved, anglers will be able to use corn at the following reservoirs during 2017 and 2018:
It was long believed that corn was difficult for fish to Digest, but study after study has shown that isn't the case; fish can easily ingest and process corn. It doesn't pose a threat to fish."
During the two-year study, biologists will work with DWR conservation officers to determine how allowing corn in these waters has effects the reservoirs and fishing. The results of this study will help with futures regulations.
